- Aluminum Alloy
This business unit handles secondary aluminum alloys and aluminum scrap. While alumina is refined from primary aluminum, secondary aluminum alloy is a "recycled ingot" from aluminum scrap and other sources.
It is used in automotive parts and a wide range of other applications; total Japanese demand is 1.5 million tons per year. The most common varieties, ADC-12 and AC4B, are used in automobile engines, where strength is imperative. Increased awareness of environmental issues together with efforts to reduce energy consumption are leading to lighter-weight automobiles and are expected to produce a steady rise in global demand for secondary aluminum alloy and other recycled metals.
The business unit sources secondary aluminum alloy best fit to the customers needs from Nikkei MC Aluminum Co., Ltd., Mitsubishi Plastics, Inc. and other Mitsubishi Group alloy manufacturers, as well as from suppliers in China, the Middle East, Russia and other parts of the world to meet demand in the markets of Japan and Southeast Asia. We also coordinate with the China locations of Mitsubishi Corp. to supply secondary aluminum alloy to the rapidly expanding Chinese market. In aluminum scrap, we source materials in Japan and provide them to domestic alloy manufacturers, as well as exporting China, Korea and Southeast Asia.
